Easy T Shirt Quilt
Font Designs Make Letter Applique Quilts Fun and Personal!
Letter applique quilt patterns can be as intricate or as easy as you'd like!
There are thousands of fonts available free of charge on the Internet. Starting your letter appliqu?uilt pattern search on a free font website is a good idea.
Most font websites have their styles broken down into categories, which will make your search for your letter appliqu?uch easier. Are you making a quilt for your granddaughter? Look in the "curly" or "cute" category.
Looking for a boy-themed font? Be sure to check out the "old school" or "athletic" fonts. There are also western fonts that would be great for a cowboy or cowgirl themed quilt, movie fonts that would allow you to replicate a favorite movie theme, etc.
Once you find the font you'd like to use for your letter appliqu?uilt pattern, download it according to your computer's instructions. If you've never downloaded a font, most computers have instructions on how to do so. It's usually as simple as clicking on the "download now" button on the font website. A popup window will ask if you want to "open" or "save" -- choose open.
Once you've opened the font file, select "extract all files." The next popup window will ask you where to save the file. You'll need to put it in your font folder in order to access the font later. That's all there is to it.
Once you've downloaded your font, you can get back to your letter appliqu?uilt pattern. Using whatever program you generally use on your computer, type the letter you want to use for your appliqu?uilt.
Select the letter by highlighting it and change the font to your downloaded choice. Alter the size to fit your needs for the letter appliqu?uilt pattern and print out the letter. That's your pattern.
Iron on a fusible webbing to the back of your selected fabric. Use your print out to cut the letter from the fabric. Now the letter can be iron onto your quilt top.
There are a number of wonderful products on the market to help control fabric fraying. Check with your favorite craft or fabric shop and pick one. Adding an anti-fray product helps to insure a long-lasting professional finish to your letter appliqu?uilt pattern!
Once your fray inhibitor has been given sufficient time to dry (usually 15 to 30 minutes), you will be ready to move on to stitching.
You may hand stitch, using a blanket stitch to complete your letter appliqu?uilt pattern. With a sewing machine, you made decide to either zig-zag or run a satin stitch around the border of your letter appliqu?uilt pattern.
Other options exist for machine embroiderers who digitize. Upon sizing the letter to use for the appliqu?highlight the letter and choose to add an outline around it. A four to eight point outline generally works best. While the letter is highlighted, change the inside color to "none." This will leave only an outline of the letter.
Complete the digitizing process and the embroidery machine will do most of the work. Machine embroiderers won't need to use fusible webbing or cut the letter out of their selected fabric. Instead, they'll simply lay their fabric on top and the embroidery machine will stitch an outline that will attach the fabric to the quilt. When they remove the fabric from the machine (but not from the embroidery hoop!), thim away excess fabric, then add a fray prevention product. Leave it to the embroidery machine to complete the applique with the stitching the machine embroiderer selected during digitizing.
Whether you create your letter quilt by hand, sewing machine or embroidery machine, letter appliqu?uilt patterns are one of the best ways to give a unique, personal gift. Don't forget to observe copyright laws when using free fonts. Some font authors don't mind and others will allow you do to sell products featuring their fonts if you contact them to ask permission.

QUESTION:
Easy way to make a quilt?
I have a bunch of old soccer shirts from the years that I played soccer and I want to do something useful with them so they aren't just sitting around. I got the idea to make a quilt or blanket with them, but I don't have any experience sewing. I was wondering if anyone had tips on how to use them to make a quilt or something similar? I have a sewing machine that I can use, but I don't know anything about making quilts. If anyone could provide tips and guidelines on how to do this, it would be greatly appreciated! It doesn't have to be really pretty or anything, I'm just looking for something a beginner will be able to do.-
ANSWER:
a t-shirt quilt is NOT for a beginner...t-shirts stretch, so they need to be fused to something that doesn't. They have to ironed a certain way, so they're square..then you need to be able to cut them in squares. you need a cutting mat (large) a rotary cutter and a ruler for quilting (all of this is gonna set you back about 0. (just for the mat, cutter and ruler)...then you need to factor in your fusible for the t-shirts ( can be from - yrd, depending on what you get)...then you need a walking foot for your machine, to piece together the t-shirts so they don't stretch (there might be some, depending on how well you iron the fusible on, or not)...you need good quality cotton thread. Then if you want it quilted (and I'm assuming you do.) you need batting (- depending on what you get) backing (- ? depending on what you get. ) and you need to be able to quit it, if not you need someone to quilt if for you, @.10 cents an inch or more depending on what quilting patterns there are at the quilters. She will probably charge you more because it's a stretchy t-shirt quilt and is a nuisance to quilt.

QUESTION:
How would I go about getting a grant to start my own business?
I hand paint T-Shirts and I make quilts. I would like to have my own shop, I have even been thinking of opening a booth at the flea market. being of a minority and a women, I have heard that this should be an easy task to do, but how?
thanks in advance for any advice you can give on this matter.-
ANSWER:
Grants aren't hard to FIND, but they can be extremely difficult and time-consuming to GET.There are essentially only 5 sources for grants. A little known fact it that you do NOT have to be a non-profit to get a grant, regardless of what others tell you ... I've helped for-profits apply for grants.
Most of the Federal grants are called Small Business Innovation Research grants. These are given primarily for some new innovation. You can find out what's available at:
http://www.sbirworld.com
There is also info on this site about how to apply. Some cities offer grants to small businesses if they will locate in the downtown area, for the purposes of building up downtown traffic. Check with your City Hall for details.
There are some Federal governemnt grants for minority businesses. You can find info at:
http://www.mbda.govAnd, there are some minority organizations that provide grants ... La Raza and the NAACP sometimes do.
http://www.nclr.org
http://www.naacp.orgPrivate companies sometimes help fund start-ups, especially if they think they will see some benefit from it. These are very difficult to find, but can sometimes be the easiest to get.
Finally, private foundations offer grants. You can get a list of most US Foundations and private grant sources at http://www.foundations.org/grantmakers.html.

QUESTION:
Which one? Auditioning Roles ?
Question 1:
theres these rolse i want to audition for, It's a video audition, but im not sure which one to audition for! I can sing and dance a little (talent shows and stuff) and i can play an instument fairly well (clarinet)
Heres role 1: [ CATHY ]
Can play All ethnicities, 13 to 16 years old. Cool, down-to-earth, yet sarcastic, Cathy is surprisingly comfortable in her own skin for a teenage girl. She's naturally pretty and puts minimal effort into the way she looks. Far more comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt than a skirt or dress. She's easy going but has little patience for trendy, disingenuous people. (Series Regular) (Im like her in real life)
Role 2:[ NATALIE ]
Can play All ethnicities, 13 to 16 years old. Attractive and fashionable in a whatever's trendy way. Style over substance. Thinks she's PERFECT and acts superior to anyone who is not of her status, which, in her mind, is everyone except her best friend Kasey. Only nice to people when she needs something from them. Singing and dancing a plus. Please put note on submission. (Series Regular)
Im thinking about auditioning for natalie because the role will help me enlarge my acting range (if you know what i mean
Heres the monolouge i WANT to do: QUILTERS
By Barbara Darnashek and Molly Newman
The “Quilters” are pioneer women who tell of their life experiences in the quest west. Here
Annie tells about her attempts to resist the quilting chores.
ANNIE: (to the audience) My ambition is to become a doctor like my father. I’m my father’s girl. My greatest accomplishment was when I was ten years old and was successful in chopping off a chicken’s head and then dressing it for a chicken dinner. My mother tries to make me do quilts all the time, but I don’t want nothing to do with it. I told her, “Never in my life will I stick my fingers til they bleed.” Very definitely. My sister Florry is a real good quilter, I guess. Mother says so all the time. Florry’s favourite pattern is the Sunbonnet Sue. Mother taught her how to do applique blocks and since then she’s made probably a dozen “Sunbonnet Sue” quilts. You’ve seen ‘em, they’re like little dolls turned sideways with big sunbonnets on. Florry makes each one different. In one her little foot is turned this or that, or she’ll give her a little parasol, or turn the hat a little bit. People think they’re sooo cute. She made one for everybody in the family, so now there are little “Sunbonnet Sue” quilts all over the house. She made a couple of ‘em for her friends, and last Spring, when we all got promoted at school, she presented one to our teacher. I nearly died. And she’s still at it. Let me tell you, she’s driving me crazy with her “Sunbonnet Sues.” So I decided to make one quilt and give it to Florry. Like I said, I’m not such a good quilter as her, but I knew just what I wanted to do with this one. It’s real small. Twin bed size. I finished it and put it on her bed this morning, but I don’t think she’s seen it yet. I guess I done some new things with “Sunbonnet Sue.” I call it the Demise of Sunbonnet Sue. Each little block is different, just like Florry does it. I’ve got a block of her hanging, another one with a knife in her chest, eaten by a snake, eaten by a frog, struck by lightning, and burned up. I’m sorta proud of it. You should see it ... It turned out real good! (She exits smiling.)
^^ If I decide on Nat il do that one but if i decide Cathy i want to do this monolouge about homework, (i cant remember what its called so ive lost it, i asked a question about it earlier)
Im alot more like Cathy if this helps.thanks!
xx Phoebe

ANSWER:
I would stay safe and go for Cathy if I were you. Just because you are going to have a ton of competition and its more important for them to cast someone who fits the part and can play it believably. Stretching yourself as an actor is great. However, its better to do in a non-audition situation such as an acting class. Although if you are cast as a character opposite of you then that is an amazing opportunity for growth. Good luck!

QUESTION:
Want to get my story published but not sure if it would interest people? let me know if it sounds any good!
?
its about a young women called josie and how she first gets turned into a werewolf and has join the pack, shes shy and naive but falls in love with the second in command Jason whos more wolf than human and has never shown any interest in the females there, his tough and cold and she dosent think she stands a chance with him. later on they end up together, have a baby called adam which managed to be unharmed when she was pregnant and kidnapped by another pack, but then adam is kidnapped by werewolf hunters who dont really know what their doing, it ends when josie is pregnant a second time they get married but when shes in hospital with her new baby at night another creature comes through the window and thtats it until my second one. heres a rough version of the beginning: The Real Us!
It was Friday night and I decided to go for a run. Leaving my flat I headed for the common that was right opposite the beach and fair. It was nearly half eight and dark by now the only light coming from brilliantly lit up arcades in the distance, it was eerily peaceful.
I had been running for about half an hour by now and was just jogging past some bushes when I heard a loud rustling sound, I stopped to listen, my heart beating furiously but there was no more noise. I was about to walk off laughing to myself for my nervousness when I saw a dog come out from the bushes, I thought it was a husky at first, but as I bent to have a closer look it looked like an actual wolf, but wolves didn’t live here in England did they? I had heard of people owning wolf-dogs and assumed that must be what it was. I crouched closer to it and went to stroke its head, but in quick natural reaction to a stranger it bit me and I yelped as I jumped back more from shock then pain, it had only grazed my hand slightly with its teeth, but I swear I saw terror in its eyes as it stared at where it had just bitten me, it suddenly shot off into the darkness stopping once to look back with that almost human like fear in its face, then it was gone.
I made my way back indoors and greeted my cat Tommy, and headed straight to my wolf quilted bed not bothering to wash the small scratch on my hand. I had always loved wolves with their beauty and wisdom, but I had never dreamt of them until that night. Waking up I got dressed in track suit bottoms and a vest top, I hadn’t bothered to look nice lately, I didn’t see the point when I couldn’t even find myself a decent man. My first serious relationship was good at first but I found sex quite painful, something about cervical Ectopy my doctor had said, and if I asked my partner to stop halfway through he wouldn’t, it was terribly painful and he would not stop even with my tears, that was the first time he raped me, though I never realised until I had left him.
I left my place that afternoon and headed to my Mothers, I often went there for company. halfway there I noticed a woman staring intently at me from a bus stop. She had lovely burgundy red hair long and wavy with perfect make-up to match, she was wearing a green pretty top with jeans and long heeled sandals. She was staring so intently that at first I looked down at myself to see if I had forgotten to dress or something, I looked back up to her and she quickly turned her face away, she was a very beautiful woman so I guessed that maybe she just thought how scruffy I must look, and carried on.
Next day I headed to my Mothers place again, they were doing a barbeque there and bringing some friends and family from st.Helena which is where my granddads side of the family all came from. Walking past the bus stop I was surprised to find a man standing there staring at me as intently as the woman had yesterday. He was also extremely attractive; he looked exactly how I thought an angel would look, with his perfect blonde hair all floppy and messy looking and his piercing blue eyes suddenly reminding me of a wolf’s. He was wearing a grey t-shirt, black jeans and boots, it was easy to see that he was all pure muscle underneath; all he needed were some wings!
At my Mothers place I found myself actually feeling happier for a while with all the music and chatter going on around, catching up with family I hadn’t seen in years and hearing the story again about how napoleon was exiled to st Helena, but it ended all too soon and later that evening I headed back home miserably, thinking about another lonely night id have to face, but at least I had Tommy I thought sighing.
I was making my way down the subway when I saw both the woman and the man together coming up and both staring straight at me. At that point I couldn’t help myself; I panicked and turned back quickly crossing the road instead. Looking back I could see them watching me, but they never spoke a word nor did they move. I got indoors trying not to worry, failing miserably and eventually drifting off to sleep.-

QUESTION:
knitting or even quilting horsey stuff?
Hey, I do something that is called corking (or spool knitting) that is basically knitting on an easier scale, and sometimes on a circular loom (making a big tube thing), I was wondering if anyone has ever knitted/ crocheted anything for their horse? I made a fly mask once that looked utterly horrible, but im definently open to new ideas. Do you know where there are any patterns to make or even quilt things like saddle pads for horses? I'm also trying to think of something to make w/ cut up t-shirt material, i was thinking a rug, any ideas? Thanks so much, I love to cork and have always wanted to put it to use instead of plaging my family members w/ scarves and hats.
